Hama Hama Seafood Company
During our trip to the Alderbrook Resort, we stopped by the Hama Hama Seafood Company to have their popular oysters. With the Hood Canal as the backdrop, I knew that these would be fresh and delicious. And they were.
We also got some of their smoked salmon filets, which differ from the usual smoked salmon that is usually thinly sliced. The salmon was moist and flaky. I highly recommend it and I wish we had bought more.
We got a dozen of their Blue Pools. These are grown in tumblers and roll with the tide, resulting in oysters with deeper cups. They don’t shuck them for you, but you can sit out on the picnic tables out back. Since I knew this, I had prepared all the accouterments for a little picnic. I packed an oyster knife, a lemon and some hot sauce for the occasion. We had a lot of fun shucking them ourselves, even though it was quite windy.
Since they do a lot of packaging of their shucked oysters, there’s a large mound of old oyster shells at the edge of their property. Dub-C couldn’t resist making his way to the top. I love this photo as you can see exactly how tall this mound is! Pretty amazing.
If you are in the area, this is a must-stop if you are an oyster lover.
